Gillingham Trotters Running Club

Location.
The Trotters are based in North Dorset and use the Gillingham Leisure centre as the base for their club night runs.

Membership.
The club caters for all abilities and has a 50/50 mix of male/female members.

Club Night.
Club nights are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. During the winter we run around Gillingham itself and hold training sessions for those who wish to participate in such activities. During the summer we explore the Dorset countryside running either on quiet rural roads or going cross country on footpaths and lanes.

Races.
We run in most races in Dorset and take part in events further afield.

Each year we have several runners in the London Marathon.

We take part in the Dorset Road Race league and organise one of the events in the calendar, our infamous Gillingham Hilly 7.5 miles. It is an unusual distance so most people set a PB on the course despite it undulating.

For the more adventurous we organise and take part in the Wessex Ridgeway relay race.

Social.
During the summer we have occasional Thursday runs based around a pub. We have a picnic and run in Stourhead Woods, there is a Christmas event and awards evening, a Christmas dinner and last (but not least) occasional meals after club night runs.

Although we are enthusiastic runners, as you can see from our club logo, a flying pig over Gillingham Church we don't take ourselves too seriously.
